Prime Tech Partners with Perspecta to Improve Pentagon’s Background Investigation System

Perspecta Inc. (PRSP), a leading U.S. government services provider, announced today that it has been awarded an Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) from the Defense Security Service (DSS) and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), to support the continued reform and modernization strategy for the National Background Investigation Service (NBIS). In the announcement, Prime Technical Services was named a key small business subcontracting partner and will play a critical role in delivery. The two-year award represents new work for the company and has a potential ceiling value of nearly $75 million.
The current backlog of national security clearance requests exceeds 600,000, and this initiative is intended to aid the Department of Defense in reducing that figure. Earlier this year the Pentagon called upon vendors that could provide “Continuous Development, Operations, and Support” to fill a soon-to-be-established program executive office that would serve as a government-wide clearinghouse for security clearance background investigations. These contractors are tasked with the development, scaling, and management of IT platforms designed to automate the many aspects of the existing National Background Investigation System (NBIS) under the DoD’s Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).
Leveraging its extensive expertise in Agile program management and development methods, Prime Tech will assist Perspecta in speeding up the time to process background investigations for security clearances through automation and process optimization. The partnership will ensure that the right technology and technical expertise is available to rapidly address the challenges facing this critical DISA initiative and ensure the DoD is provided the highest degree of assurance and security.
